How much does school solar installation cost in Delhi?

School solar systems in Delhi typically cost 35,000-755,000 per kW before subsidy. A 50kW system (suitable for a 500-student school) costs approximately 18-24 lakhs before subsidy, and 17-22 lakhs after availing MNRE support. Government schools may qualify for additional DoE grants, reducing cost further. We provide a detailed cost-benefit report at no charge during the free site survey.

What size solar system does a Delhi school typically need?

System size depends on monthly electricity consumption and available roof area. As a guideline: Primary schools (up to 200 students) typically need 15-30kW. Secondary schools (200-600 students) need 30-80kW. Large senior secondary schools and colleges need 80kW-200kW+. We assess your last 12 months’ electricity bills and available roof area during the free survey to recommend the exact right size.

Will solar installation disturb ongoing school classes?

Absolutely not. We specifically schedule school installations during summer vacations (May- June), Diwali break, winter vacations, or weekends. Our teams work efficiently and cleanly – a typical 50kW school installation takes 3-5 days. We coordinate closely with school administration to ensure zero impact on academic activities. The connection to the grid takes 1 additional day after installation is complete.

Do government and KV schools qualify for solar subsidies in Delhi?

Yes. Kendriya Vidyalayas are eligible under the KVS Solar Rooftop Programme. Delhi Government (DOE) schools qualify under the Delhi Solar Policy 2024 and PM Surya Ghar Yojana. MCD schools have a dedicated solar budget under the Smart City scheme. We are empanelled with all three government school bodies and have successfully executed 40+ government school solar projects in Delhi NCR.

Is net metering available for Delhi schools?

Yes. All three Delhi DISCOMS – BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna, and TPDDL – offer net metering for educational institutions. When your school generates more power than it consumes (common during holidays and summer breaks when AC load is low), the surplus is exported to the grid and you receive bill credits. We handle the complete net metering application with the relevant DISCOM on your behalf.
